About Dallas Institute of Funeral Service

dallasinstitute.edu

Unlike many vocational schools, the Dallas Institute of Funeral Service is not-for-profit, so you know that the focus is always on your education, not your money. The Institute seeks not only to teach you professional skills, but also to further the field of funeral work. Extensive research and an innovative mentality distinguish it from other schools of its kind. Dallas Institute of Funeral Service is also committed to enriching student life. In addition to the Robert P. Kite Student Center, the school hosts the Epsilon Chapter of Pi Sigma Eta, a funeral service fraternity. Extensive student advising is also available, both for academic and personal matters. The Institute’s distance-learning program is a convenient opportunity for commuters outside of Dallas. Students in the Applied Science program can take all of their general studies requirements online. This is an effective way to minimize your on-campus course load, as general studies account for a quarter of the Applied Science curriculum. Students seeking to become funeral directors can also enroll in the Funeral Director’s program. This 42-credit program is designed to prepare you to be a funeral director in Texas or Missouri. Like the Associate of Applied Science, it’s structured in academic quarters.
