With an emphasis on celebrating both the traditional and the progressive, Centenary College of Louisiana strives to provide its students a thorough liberal arts education that develops within them the ability to think diversely as well as creatively. At Centenary, students can earn a bachelor’s degree in areas such as Biology, Theatre and Communication, or opt for programs such as Pre-Law, Pre-Veterinary or Education. With over 20 majors, multiple concentrations, minors, and graduate programs in Business and Education, students are sure to find the academic focus that will set them on the path to their future careers no matter their interest. There are no required minimum scores for admissions, but the college does require that scores from a standardized test, such as the ACT or SAT, be submitted. Applicants are reviewed with particular attention to grades, test scores and extracurricular activities. A written essay and letters of recommendation must also be submitted as part of the admissions process. Tuition rates can vary at Centenary depending upon program, meal plan option and housing, but financial aid is available to qualifying students. The application for admissions will automatically put you into consideration for any merit-based financial aid the school offers. The FAFSA should be submitted as well, and will be used as a basis for any other financial aid opportunities including the federal grant, talent award, student loan and work-study options. Louisiana's Tuition Opportunity Program for Students (TOPS) can be also be applied to Centenary College’s fees. Students must be residents of Louisiana for this program. Centenary also offers an active student life, with organizations featuring an academic and departmental focus. Groups with a particular focus such as Greek life, honors, service and politics are also available. The Shreveport/Bossier City location of the college also supplies multiple opportunities for nightlife, cultural experiences and fine cuisine.
