Whether you’re performing in one of the school’s many ensembles, which draw audiences of 100,000 annually, or want to enjoy a performance, you don’t have to look far. Anything from woodwind chamber music to brass choirs are hosted regularly, providing you with exposure to virtually all styles of ensemble performance. One of the most notable events the conservatory hosts is the historic San Francisco-Shanghai International Chamber Music Festival, which includes several days of master classes, rehearsals and coaching, followed by public performances. Audiences may hear the sheng, a traditional Chinese wood instrument, for the first time ever.
