montserrat.eduMontserrat College in Beverly, Massachusetts offers studio and professional art programs for those aspiring to work in different areas of the Visual Arts. Montserrat also provides a number of opportunities for its students to exhibit artwork and meet other artists. All students at Montserrat spend the first year taking foundational courses in the basic elements of art production. From there, students select a concentration in such specializations as Painting and Drawing, Sculpture, Animation, Book Arts, Graphic Design and Photography and Video. Minors are also available in Art History and Creative Writing. Montserrat also has a continuing education division, which allows community members to take single art courses. Montserrat is home to five galleries where current students, alumni and outside artists exhibit work. Regular talks and presentations by artists are also offered. Student life activities allow students to take time away from their art and engage with others in different types of activities. There is student government, a theatre club, live music, dance and other clubs and activities. The student’s art portfolio is the most important part of the Montserrat application. Other requirements include transcripts and test scores. Students may apply for scholarships, grants and loans to help cover tuition costs.
