Beloved Community Family Services, Inc. was founded in August, 2004 by Congressman Bobby L. Rush, Pastor and Teacher of Beloved Community Christian Church. Beloved Community Family Services was incorporated on February 24, 2005. The “beloved community” is Dr. Martin Luther King’s metaphoric vision of God’s Kingdom on earth. Congressman Rush embraced the vision of ridding society of social leprosy. With this vision, Congressman Rush sought to establish BCFS as a vehicle to promote a caring community where healing and nurturing occurs in the Englewood, West Englewood and surrounding communities. The mission of Beloved Community Family Service is to provide a network of compassionate services to promote cultural, economic and social well-being. In fulfilling its mission,services include Health Education and Prevention, Youth Development, and Community Corrections and Intervention Services.
