Valley City State University prepares people for life through visionary leadership and exemplary practices in teaching, learning and service. VCSU has a long-standing tradition of providing personal connections throughout your educational experience and we've merged that tradition with the latest in instructional technology. We just completed our 12th year of providing every full-time student a laptop computer, making the VCSU experience one of the best values available today. Although VCSU is best known as a 'teacher's college,' students can select from dozens of different majors, minors and certificates in fields ranging from Business, Information Technology, Communication Arts, Social Science, Education, Technology Education, Psychology, Art, Music, Health, Physical Education, Math, and Science. New in 2005: we are offering master's-level courses in Education and a new major in Wildlife & Fisheries Sciences! Our student-faculty ratio is about 13:1, among the best in the nation! Students get one-to-one access to the faculty in ways that are impossible at other universities -- you won't find any classes taught by Teaching Assistants at VCSU. Our professors get to know their students by name and develop personal relationships that dramatically enhance learning. Pick from numerous activities including Viking athletics, intramural athletics, student government, theatre, choral and instrumental ensembles, campus newspaper, and much more. At VCSU, students who want to participate, CAN participate! The scenic VCSU campus, located on the banks of the Sheyenne River, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and features beautifully restored historic buildings. Residence halls include many amenities, easy access to parking, and spacious, recently-remodeled apartment suites. Plus, VCSU offers some facilities you won't find at most other campuses such as our own Planetarium and Medicine Wheel Park.
