Metropolitan Community College’s (MCC) Business and Technology division offers degrees and short-term professional training for technical and industrial occupations. Located in Kansas City, Missouri, MCC has several campuses throughout the region, each of which offers a different selection of programs. In The Business and Technology division training programs are available in such fields as: * Computer-Aided Drafting and Design * Engineering Technology * HVAC/R * Industrial Electrical Technology * Welding Those who simply want to take one or more single courses, either to build on current professional skills or to transition into a new career, may benefit from the second set of continuing education courses. Each course lasts less than three months, and various schedules are offered to accommodate all lifestyles. All MCC campuses also offer student life activities, which give students the chance to participate in outside interests like poetry and music performance. MCC’s Business and Technology division, like all its campuses and divisions, has an open admissions policy. While there may be additional requirements for certain majors, for the most part MCC admits anyone with a high school diploma or GED and, in some cases, will even admit those who have neither. Nearly half of MCC students receive some form of financial aid, although aid is not guaranteed. Aid includes need-based awards like federal and state grants and work-study. Students may also apply for MCC and outside scholarships, which are usually distributed based on specific criteria, such as academic merit or intended major. A final funding option available is federal and private loans. To be considered for most forms of aid students must fill out a FAFSA, which can be done online. Veteran’s benefits are also available.
